Heads up: The house gets really cold during the winter, and very warm during the summer. You have to love the people/coworkers and the house to love the job. Other than behind-the-scenes tour guide, there's only one more possible promotion for most.

Little feedback given on how to be a better tour guide. Back then there were feedback cards, but we rarely heard from those notes if guests ever commented about our tours. Still, my only pay raise came when the minimum wage was raised.

I put in effort, and did everything possible to make every tour interesting, even if it was my 4th or 5th time repeating the information for that day-I wanted each guest to enjoy their time and not be stuck with a monotone guide. After less than a year I was promoted to be a behind-the-scenes guide. You have to know the entire tour-plus additional information-safety procedures, how to deal with large, mixed groups, sometimes give back-to-back tours, be on your feet for hours at a time, and then some, yet when I left in 2014 we were only getting 15 cents above minimum wage. Training takes ~1-2 weeks to learn the regular tour, and additional time for the behind-the-scenes tour. Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from the event, unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.No pay raises.

In consideration of certain guests who are sensitive to such things we request there be no clown costumes of any kind.

Headwear may be worn if it does not cover the face.

Masks and face painting are not allowed to ensure that there is no confusion between our actors and guests.

Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.

Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground.

Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.

Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

Failure to follow posted rules or direction of staff may result in removal from the estate without a refund. We reserve the right to stop the Unhinged experience at any time. Ticket holders acknowledges all risks associated with this experience and agrees to abide by all rules and instructions.

Your ticket is a revocable license and may be taken and admission refused upon refund of purchase price. Large bags and backpacks will not be allowed. All guests and their belongings are subject to additional security screening upon entering the estate.Guests who show signs of intoxication or who present a safety hazard to themselves, others and the estate will not be admitted or may be asked to leave.Real or prop weapons are not allowed on the estate.

Any costume that presents a safety hazard for Guests or staff will not be allowed. Costumes are allowed but must be in good taste and may not be offensive, objectionable, or violent.

This experience features many stairs and narrow passageways and is not recommended for expectant mothers and Guests suffering from asthma, heart conditions, seizures or any type of physical or medical condition. This experience is dimly lit and contains loud sounds, special effects, atmospheric fog and strobe effects.
